Merry Christmas...Giveaway of White-Hot Christmas contemporary romance...
I hope you're in the mood for Christmas romance, because this week I have fellow kiwi author, Faye Robertson (aka Serenity Woods), visiting to tell you about her recently released Christmas contemporary romances.
I met Faye through a friend of mine I'd been at university with. Chris and I live at opposite ends of the North Island, and I usually only see him once a year. When I told Chris I was writing romance, he said, 'I know someone else who writes romance' - and that's how I met Faye. Her books are wonderful and I thoroughly recommend them if you are after fabulous, humorous and sensual, Christmas themed reads.
Hi Bronwen! Thank you so much for having me on your blog. It’s been a busy festive season for me with two new releases, and I look forward to sharing them with you.
Okay, first tell us about your new books.
WHITE-HOT CHRISTMAS, is a light-hearted romance set in the Northland of New Zealand during a hot summer. It features Merle Cameron, a university lecturer from England who’s come to New Zealand to be with her sister, and what happens when she meets her brother-in-law’s cousin Neon (short for Napoleon), a rugby-playing, surfing firefighter. They only mean to have a brief affair, but when it’s time for Merle to go home, they both realise they’re in deeper than they thought.
Get it on Kindle for only $4.24 (Read the excerpt below...)
In contrast, HOLLY'S FIRST NOEL, is a Christmas tale set on the snowy shores of Loch Ness in Scotland. Holly and Noel are two schoolteachers who find themselves alone during the festive period (Holly’s boyfriend dumped her the week before and Noel’s wife died three years ago). They decide to go on retreat and be miserable together, but end up finding romance—and some Christmas magic—in the snow.

Why are the books released under different names?
I publish with Samhain Publishing and Noble Romance under the pseudonym Serenity Woods, but Entangled wanted me to use a name more suitable for their Harlequin-style Indulgence line, which I will hopefully be writing for next year, hence the use of my own name, Faye Robertson for Holly’s First Noel.
Do you have any other books scheduled for release?
Yes, I have AN UNCOMMON SENSE, which is the first in a series called Sensual Healing, and this comes out with Samhain Publishing on April 3rd. This trilogy features heroes with distinctly unusual talents—in this case, Ash Rutherford is a medium, and the heroine, Grace, is very much a sceptic. Ash has to persuade her that he’s not delusional and not out to deceive her, but suspicious Grace takes some convincing!
Also on April 3rd Samhain are releasing a paperback anthology called Come Rain or Come Shine featuring my sweet novella Something Blue that was published in May. At last, I’ll have a “real” book!
Next, I have SEVEN SEXY SINS coming out with Samhain in August. This story is about Faith Hillman, a journalist who’s been commissioned to write a series of articles based on the seven deadly sins, each relating to a Sexy Sin, to encourage bored housewives to experiment in the bedroom. There’s only one problem—Faith’s never done any of the sins on the list! Luckily her brother’s best mate, Rusty, is on hand to help out ;)
I have another four category-length books in the pipeline with Samhain and Entangled, as well as a paranormal under consideration with the YA imprint of Harlequin MIRA in the UK. Fingers crossed for all of those!
What are you working on at the moment?
A novella for Avon Romance for their Yellow Ribbon call about soldiers returning from war. I’m also two-thirds of the way through another full-length category romance (I’m notorious for writing two stories at a time.) After that, I have to write the third in the Sensual Healing trilogy, and then, who knows?
Can you give us a snippet?
Sure! Here’s a taster from White-Hot Christmas. And thanks for having me on here, Bronwen. And congratulations on your successes – I loved Invitation to Ruin and gave it 5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads – highly recommended!

Merle’s mouth had gone dry. She’d expected him to jump at the offer of sex with no strings attached, but his frown made her realise there was more to him than she’d thought.
Oh great, I’ve picked a hot guy with principles. It had taken an immense amount of courage for her to say what she’d said, and now he was going to turn her down. She would have to walk back to the group rejected and excruciatingly embarrassed. What on earth must he think of her?
Panic overwhelming her, she opened her mouth to blurt out she’d been joking when his frown lifted, his lips curving in a smile. Relief flooded over her.
Standing, he moved closer to her and took her hands in his, pulling her toward him. She stood, toes sinking in the sand, heart thudding as he stroked her palms with his thumbs.
“You want to play with me?” he asked mischievously.
What a great way to put it. “Yes please,” she said breathlessly.
He gave a little laugh, his eyes crinkling with affection and amusement. “How British! So polite.”
She didn’t know what she expected him to do next. She’d practically given him carte blanche to do anything he wanted, and wondered if he would grab her butt, or her breasts, and try to tune her in like Phil used to do, thinking it turned her on to have her nipples squeezed until she winced.
She didn’t expect him to link her fingers with his, still by their sides, fix her with a gentle smile and lower his mouth to hers.
He kissed her softly, just a brush of lips, but it made her zing all over, an ice-cube running down her spine, her breasts and thighs tightening. Her heart pounded, but she made herself remain calm, though she knew her breath was coming quickly, and her nipples were standing through her dress like buttons.
He pulled back and looked at her. His brown eyes were warm as melted chocolate, full of smiles. “You know what a hongi is?”
“Is that the Māori greeting?”
He nodded. Leaning forward, he pressed his nose gently against hers. “When we hongi, we share the breath of life. You’re not a manuhiri anymore—a visitor. You’re tangata whenua. One of the people of this land.”
“Oh.” She blushed. “What a nice thing to say.”
He chuckled. “A gift from me to you.” He released her fingers and stepped a bit closer, resting his hands on her hips. “And here’s the same thing in pakeha—that’s non-Māori.” He lowered his lips again.
Merle rested her palms on his bare chest as they kissed. His skin was warm, dusted with a light coating of sand. He slid one hand onto the small of her back, pulling her gently toward him, pressing their hips together. She felt him against the flat of her stomach, hard as a rock, and sighed, her mouth opening under his. He inhaled in response and his tongue brushed hers, warm and soft. It was an incredibly erotic, slow kiss, with the sun warm on their skin and the rush of the waves in the background. She raised her arms around his neck, slipping a hand into his damp hair, pressing fully along him, her breasts touching his chest. He ran his hands up her rib cage, then slipped them around her back, tightening his arms around her. It was the nicest kiss she’d ever had, and she wanted it to go on forever, trying to capture the moment so she could replay it in the future when she returned to cold, wintry England.

Just send Hugh Jackman along thank you. I'd love to find him under the tree to unwrap.

You got my vote - I'm mad about Hugh Jackman.
ReplyDeleteI know you girls, and you're wanting me to say Jude Law or Justin Timberlake or Josh Holloway (hey, did you notice they're all J names?) - but the reality is, at this time of year I'd rather unwrap my bank manager, holding my credit card and saying "I've got it covered, go forth and spend!"
ReplyDelete*That* would be pretty damn exciting! (grins)

Loved the excerpt! Well...hmmm. I'll have to think about the unwrapping options. So far, if Father Time was around and could grant me more, I'd be all for it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays! :)
